Conelway School becomes a pioneer in releasing lower grade students for religious instruction abroad from school property. About 249 participate weekly with roughly 100 remaining in class while the Corry Area Bible Club supervises sessions off campus using nearby bus transport. Visitors at Conelway School admire the structure for more than beauty. Bright windows reduce need for artificial light, while glass walls and panels maximize daylight in halls and classrooms. Interiors use cheerful hues, new furniture, and flexible desks to suit classroom activities.
The Conway School cafeteria, open only a few weeks, draws strong demand with 87 percent higher noon meal usage than expected. About 220 pupils eat lunch there while 124 bring their own to eat in the cafeteria area. Meals cost 25 cents subsidized by the government. Credit is given to cafeteria manager Mrs Velma McCray and Mrs Luli Aldrich for guiding the program as young students show big appetites.
Conelway School cost 1 007 dollars per 360 potential students, while Corry Area High School was 1 446 dollars per 1 200 students. The new Siere plant at 15.97 per sq ft compares to the high school 15.05. The study urges active lay participation to improve schools.
The Concord Township history traces the district from one room schools to the Conelway era, noting budget, tax, and building changes desde 1874. The public is invited to a formal program Monday night as Concord Township Elgin borough and Wayne Township dedicate the Conway School. The speaker will be the County Head of Schools, marking a significant progressive step for the area in a new twelve-room, single-story building on Spencer Road two miles west of Corry.
Open house not planned but visitors may tour Conelway School during dedication events. Officials note 12 rooms replace 10 older one room schools, part of a joint district bonding project begun after contracts in 1958. State Highway Department reviewed the route and pending a definite action timeline for road improvement.
