Girl's Body Found and Child Case Shocks Kansas City
Kansas City police pursued a baffling case after a body found under a rock pile appeared to be a three year old girl named Shirley Dicus. The alleged murder charge against her father Lloyd A. Dicus was dropped as investigation revealed the child was alive in Neosho Missouri with him. A woman listed as Dicus's fifth wife and Shirley's mother Gretta June Cornish, 20, and her one year old daughter Mozelle, who had been missing since December, were later located in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Police fear foul play may have occurred and the mystery echoed earlier when a small girl’s body was found on the city outskirts.

PRR Earnings Seen Rising On Cost Cuts And Tech Aids
PRR vice president David Bevan told the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia that the railroad expects 1956 earnings to match or exceed last year’s 41.18 million dollars, though 1955 profits were not satisfactory. He outlined cost-cutting via mechanization and electronics, and noted staff reductions from 130,000 in 1955 to about 108,000 today. Capital expenditures will rise substantially to address a freight car shortage and new plants, with potential commuter service trials using low-cost weight-reducing passenger cars.
