Raymond Noakes and Arthur Osborn were hanged at the state penitentiary for the murder of Fred N. Selak the hermit of Grand Laie. Noakes went first at 12 40 A M followed by Osborn at 1 15 A M with the prison physician confirming death minutes later.
Chicago reports said a municipal court bailiff William Beatty was wounded during a raid by federal prohibition agents at a youth saloon. A burning, gasoline-soaked body of an unidentified man with a card bearing the name Marchese was found south of the city.
Mrs Es ther Wilson a Washington society woman also known as iron hunter shot her wealthy husband with a .32 caliber revolver in his private law office. She was returned to jail to await his fate with possible homicide charges depending on his condition. If he dies she faces an additional hearing on felonious assault. Elsewhere five youths robbed workers at Caledonian Woolen Mills Clifton Heights escaping with finished goods worth over $5 000.
Superintendent Ralph F. Dewey announced a citywide Safety Week in schools next week with a campaign aimed at reducing accidents. The bulletin urges courtesy and caution to prevent risks, citing that careless conduct causes most injuries and deaths in highway and other incidents.
Charles A Lindbergh intends another trans Atlantic hop this summer visiting Europe and possibly Russia India and Japan.
