Soldiers Delight in New Weapons and Team Glory
This week the 112th Infantry company receives the latest Garand rifles and new gear. Soldiers tear guns apart and reassemble them in record times while excelling in field exams covering drill, physical training, bayonet work, and defense. The weapons platoon leads the grading as the company shines in basketball, beating several rival units and advancing to finals. Recreation rooms and a regimental post exchange open, with a busy program of evenings and vaudeville. A few soldiers remain hospitalized for minor colds, with strict measures to prevent outbreaks.
