Grass fires flare in city as department battles blazes

Fire crews respond to another grass fire on King Street East near Main, with the blaze on property between the railroad and Main Street spreading rapidly before being extinguished. Several other small fires reported citywide, but only this one required department dispatch.

Boy Dies at Bear Lake After Fall from Water

A 14 year old, Leland Holusin of Wear Lacie, was killed at Bear Lake when crushed in an elevator incident during a late night gathering. Several companions were nearby as accidents occurred near the quarry and water works area. The boy suffered a broken back and died instantly.
