Two Air Force planes crashed at dusk near Bridgeport Texas killing all 18 aboard. A C124 Globemaster en route from San Antonio to Oklahoma City collided with a C119 cargo plane from Sheppard AFB, Carswell AFB. The wreckage burned. observers described falling sheet iron like debris.

A Corry truck driver was held for the Erie County grand jury on a $1000 property bond after pleading guilty to a drunken driving charge before Alderman Melvin S. Cobbett yesterday afternoon. Buell was arrested at 4 p.m. Saturday when his truck clipped another vehicle while turning onto Main Street from South Center Street. The school district training car sustained slight damage and was operated by a novice under Kenneth Harvey, the driving instructor. Buell was released after posting bond.
John Heidt, 47, suffered facial and hand injuries when an explosion damaged a boiler room at the American Sterilizer plant in Erie. A pocket near the boiler allegedly formed and exploded during a lighting attempt. The boiler sustained most of the damage and Heidt was reported in good condition.

Walter Kuney, 45, of Avello, a miner employed by Pittsburgh Consolidation Coal Co, was killed in a slabs fall at the Weatland mine near Washington Pennsylvania. The accident happened yesterday and authorities are investigating the incident.
