Ontario police confirmed a well organized plot to kidnap the Dionne quintuplets from Dafoe hospital. Plotters planned to steal the babies and smuggle them across the U S border for exhibit and profit. Hospital security is intensified with a nurse in the babies’ room at night. The Dionnes, now ten months old, have gained weight and show above average intelligence per Dr. A R Dafoe. Mother Oliva Dionne visited recently.
Brussels dispatch reports all stock exchanges ordered closed and a government probe toward devaluing the gold standard currency. Warsaw March 28 United Press reports the Polish government resigned today after adopting a new constitution. The opposition in parliament had bitterly opposed the pro Germany policy, replacing France as Poland’s ally. Premier Lyon Kozlowski stepped down, with Joseph Pilsudski expected to keep the war ministry in reorganization.

Senator William Borah criticizes the gathering as a political maneuver by Fletcher Hilles Roraback to facade internal splits.
Steve Kosiorek, 21, of Wattsburg, will face sentencing after being denied a new trial by Judge William E. Hit for involuntary manslaughter in the death of Adam Krainski. The collision occurred October 26, 1933, when Kosiorek reportedly struck a horse drawn wagon six miles south of Noria East, throwing Krainski to the ground and killing him the next day. The defense argued the wagon had only a white tail light, making it appear motorcycle rearward.

In Corry the third class city committee considers a bill drafted by Erie Mayor James P. Rossiter. It would let the city construct own or operate public utilities in competition with private firms. Mayor Glenn Miller notes a ten year contract from the local light company could save the city $1,389 yearly, but may not cut consumer rates.
Three hundred railroad and business executives from Great Lakes cities returned to offices convinced business will improve in the next three months. At the 29th meeting of the Great Lakes Regional Advisory Board, reports indicated shippers will need nearly 10 percent more freight tariffs in the second quarter of 1835 versus last year. The board denounced government railroad control as unsound economics in a resolution by Prof. C. L. Dunford of Michigan State University.

Reports from Berlin and Kaunas describe widespread German demands to halt Memel executions and seek a new deal for Memel Germans. Mass meetings across cities denounce the sentences while a Lithuanian professor's trial is interrupted by nationalist demonstrations. In London, Hitler allies push for colonies and repeal of Versailles terms tied to League participation.
Edward H. Ellison aged 63 of Lakewood Road was killed in a morning auto crash when a car driven by his brother Robert, 58, collided with the West Third Street bridge in Jamestown. Robert was rushed to Jamestown General Hospital in serious condition with severe concussions and multiple injuries. The Ellison brothers operated the Ellison Bronze Company. Edward was president and manager while Robert was vice president. The car and machine were reportedly destroyed.
In Harrisburg on March 28, belief grows that a general sales tax will pass following the Senate defeat of Gov Marle’s $210.7 million revenue plan. The gasoline tax hike faced a 28 to 17 defeat, seen as a turning point against revenue raisers, jeopardizing unemployment relief and other administration proposals. The Senate Republican majority’s stance suggests more tax proposals may fail, with an estimated $106,267,260 increase per biennium if enacted.
Dr. Carmen D. Stoss of Edinboro State Teachers College spoke at the Kiwanis noon meeting at Hotel Corry on What Can Service Clubs Doily Serve You. He urged guidance as the key takeaway. Mary Frances Brooks and the high school trio provided vocal selections. guests included F. A. Loveland and others.
Bernard Baruch urged a constitutional amendment to eliminate all tax exempt bonds in the future. Robert L. Johnson, executive director of the State Emergency Relief Board, warns Pennsylvania may need new funding as federal aid ends. He cites a $40,000,000 gasoline bill and an April relief need of about $20,095,936 while funds from January have kept the program running. Hopkins and Governor Earle suggest a $5,000,000 monthly state share if federal support ceases.

In Harrisburg on March 28 Bob by Edwards is set for execution by electric chair during the week of May 6 for the murder of his pregnant sweetheart Miss Freda McKerknie. The conviction stems from the poisoning and shooting at Harvey's Lake as he sought to end a romance with Margaret Crain. A pardon-board action followed a governor’s commutation effort and a 23-year-old mining engineer’s request at the April 17 meeting.
