Fearful price rise due to proposed Store Tax bill in Pennsylvania
The Store Tax bill passed by the Pennsylvania House and headed to the Senate could raise food prices for thousands. Tax proponent G A Hering of the Tax Payers League warns households should study the measure as it would tax each retail store with heavy penalties for chain groups, potentially lifting costs for families across the state. He cites A and P and American Stores as bearing 88 percent of the tax burden, arguing the bill risks higher prices and hardship for mothers and children unless lawmakers adjust or block it.
