Work To Clear RR Crossings
Motorists held up at railroad crossings on the west side will gain relief if Pennsylvania Railroad gets approval. Jeffrey Griffin, spokesman, said two freight trains rerouted to the New York Central elevated tracks have operated smoothly from 3 to 6 pm, easing jams at West and Wayne streets. Planned changes may follow, with more trains rerouted to avoid cross streets and reduce delays for commuters. Separately, Allegheny County Common Pleas granted a state charter for a 30 bed hospital in North Fayette Township to be named West Allegheny Hospital serving western Allegheny and parts of Beaver and Washington Counties.

Justice of the Peace Joseph Cresciman reserved decision for two weeks after a hearing on Frank Murzynski charged with perjury and forgery tied to election petitions.
