Polk Inmate Die In Dorm Fire At Polk State School

A fire of unknown origin swept through a Lie Lakeside dormitory at Polk State School last night around 9. George Kerekar, 24, of McKeesport, died in his room as firefighters battled the flames for about 40 minutes. Dr. P. B. Cunningham, county coroner, said residents retired around 8 and smoke was seen along the second-floor corridor. Damage estimates were not available though much was due to smoke staining water. Residents recalled flames visible from Polkborough as the fire was brought under control.
