John Palmstone 79 of 905 East South Street died this morning after a lingering illness. Marcus Brown 23, an employee at Berman Mattress Works in Erie Pennsylvania, was jailed on a charge of holding up the firm and stealing a $200 payroll. He surrendered and returned most of the money five hours after flashing a gun on two women workers. Brown had four years with the company.
Park Superintendent William Nicholas reports a census of about 29,000 rose bushes surrounding the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The survey identifies 67 distinct varieties among the roses.
