Padres Reflect Dodger Flavor In 1972 Outlook
In Yuma Arizona the Padres echo Dodgers lineage with club president Buzzie Bavasi and managers Preston Gomez and Don Zimmer, aiming to reverse last season’s NL West last place. They rely on pitching and speed, with Nate Colbert, Leron Lee leading a 52 homers tally and a .227 team batting. Pitching, led by Kirby and Arlin, showed fragility with arms, while rookies Mike Ivie and Dave Hilton draw attention as primary hopes on offense.
