Solar Energy Cuts Oil Costs In Half
LANCASTER AP Enders a Mountie television repair man who experiments with gadgets built solar panels on his roof three years ago. The system heats water year round and reduced oil use from 1500 gallons in 1973 to about 750 gallons last year with two panels. He estimates using only 100 gallons after adding three more panels. The solar setup also cut his electric bill as the furnace runs less. Experts note high installation costs and few installers slow adoption.
