City School Plan Advances Involving New and Remodeled Buildings
Twenty years ago the school board approved a program to erect a combined junior high and elementary school on a north elite site and a two class room unit on East Main street, with remodeling of Fairview Washington and Hatch buildings to meet ventilation standards. If plans progress, April city executives may preliminarily act on a Sewet project south of Washington street, pavement work, and possibly repaving. A feeble minded boy confessed to a recent arson and will be sent to Polk Institution. Blustery March weather greeted Miss Spring as a light wind kept many indoors. City police report road transients lodging at the jail are causing panhandling complaints and the city will stop the nightly road residents from using the building.
