Evelyn Merkle reports the PTA executive committee met at Mrs. Carol Shaw’s home to select a slate of officers for the year. A regular meeting is set for Monday night March 20 at 8 pm in the school gym to vote on nominees from the floor. An Easter Hat Parade with prizes from Hair Fashions Corry Virginia's Beauty Shop and Mildred's Beauty Salon Sparta will be held due to essays not yet ready. A cake walk is also planned with donations and remember PTA. The 59er Club met at Mrs. Olive Weidner’s home with 11 members and five guests. officers for the coming year were elected. The next meeting is April 19 at Mrs. Florence Sherlock’s home. Special kitchen committee members are Mable Halfast and Ella Parkin.
Easter will be celebrated soon and Joseph M. Kablach of Pennsylvania's Bureau of Employment Security urged city merchants to use the Corry office to hire temporary help. He noted the office maintains lists of qualified workers for full or part time jobs and that using extra sales, clerical and stock personnel during peak seasons benefits merchants and customers alike. The Corry office at 142 North Center Street is a public service for temporary Easter staffing.
