Tragic Fire Destroys Homes In Warren Killing Child
A blaze yesterday in Warren left nine people homeless and claimed the life of five year old Betty Warren. The fire at Butcher's Mills destroyed the Sedan home where the child slept on the first floor before dying at Warren General Hospital. The incident occurred around six o'clock Thursday morning as flames spread rapidly through the ten room dwelling. Betty Warren was born June 23, 1927, and was the daughter of Mr and Mrs James Warren. Her funeral plans will be announced later. Coroner Lowery declined an inquest. A second fire at 1020 Spring Street destroyed that home and damaged adjacent properties, with three more Spring Street homes affected but saved by firefighters.
