Insanity Plea Rejected in Irene Schroeder Murder Trial
In Newcastle Pennsylvania on March 18 the court barred the defense from using criminal insanity to justify the murder of Highway Patrol Corporal Reedy Paul. Judge Hinsdeband sustained the objection, stating that criminal impulses do not excuse murder and the prosecution argued the defense plan was invalid. The trial paused as the defense sought a recess to revise their approach before resuming.
