Obituaries report the deaths of 70 year old Hasbrouck of Corry and 89 year old Benson of Spartansburg. Hasbrouck, born July 21 192, had worked at Trill Indicator Climax Manufacturing and ran a Concord Street grocery. Benson, a WWI veteran and rural mail carrier, died after a long illness. services in Union City and Edinboro Cemetery were planned with a LeGIon post graveside salute. Survivors include multiple children grandchildren and siblings.
Pensioned man dies by suicide in Spartanburg area
Mr. Smith 70 of R D 1 Ty Line Road died at Corry Memorial Hospital at 4 10 p m Saturday from a self inflicted gunshot wound. He had been despondent since his wife died February 10. Born July 16 1883 in Spring Creek Township he married Mildred Bartholme October 22 1919. He leaves four sons Norman Paul Jack and Vern Jr and 10 grandchildren. Visitation is today 2 4 and 7 10 p m at H Richard Hays Funeral Home Spartansburg with service tomorrow at 2 p m Rev Robert Pier officiating. Burial in West Spring Creek Cemetery.
