Loss of the Royal George and Colonial Oddities
A fragmentary collection of items from a 19th century newspaper page, including a Merchant’s note on The Loss of the Royal George citing neglect and rot in the ship’s bottom, a Connecticut justice notebook from 1750 detailing misbehavior by a boy, and social anecdotes about a Wall Street adviser, Dr. Johnson, Goldsmith, and a model. The piece preserves period voice with brief lore and humorous vignettes.
