Shooting by aged man ends in apparent double tragedy
In Pittsburgh a 70 year old railroad mechanic John Cain shot at his head but was stopped by detectives. He allegedly killed his 62 year old wife Gruen Wissing Cain and wounded Dan Fitzpatrick after a two day drinking binge to celebrate Cain's birthday. A death note found in Cain's pocket appeared to tie the pair's pact to die together rather than seek pension relief. A separate Harrisburg item reports two robbers stole bad checks from Barney Goldberg's junk office dated 1928.
