District 10 Still Awaiting Remainder of State Aid
Assurances from budget secretary Edwin B. Logan say Governor Arthur J. James has recommended a deficiency appropriation of 1830 dollars to cover district aid, easing Corry School District fears of a possible cut. The board will receive the budget reading Monday, while superintendent Ralph S. Dewey notes 9 percent of the state allotment is paid with 7 percent to come from the deficiency. The delay would bring about 1100 dollars by early June. A state official states the six percent penalty on delinquent taxes takes effect after the May 1 levy adoption. earlier reports that the rate could be collected after January 1 are incorrect.
