Snow and rain sweep through central Plains to Great Lakes
A moisture-laden late winter storm dumped heavy snow from the central Plains to the Great Lakes with downpours of rain eastward. Snow totals reached six inches at O'Neill Nebraska and five inches at Pickstown South Dakota, while Minnesota and northern Iowa saw 3 to 4 inch depths. Roads were slick and advisories for more accumulation continued from northern Oklahoma to Upper Michigan. Dense fog formed in several states and a tornado watch was active in parts of Oklahoma and Texas. Weather varied widely with hail, thunderstorms, and mixed precipitation across the region.
