Tyan Miller, a Corry area resident and noted potato grower, leads a six man Mennonite Central Committee survey team through Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil to aid immigrant industrial development. The group plans to stay in South America through the month and return to the United States in early April, with Mennonite leaders from across the nation joining.
In Seoul on March 12 American infantry tested a lightweight nylon vest weighing seven to eight pounds, about half the weight of metal alloy vests. The Army says the vest protects against mortar, grenade, and shell fragments which account for 80 to 80 percent of combat wounds. Made of 42 layers of nylon, the vest is light and flexible.
The Selous School Superintendent Lawrence Douglas proposes halting the district school dental clinic on June 1 for a formal evaluation of its value and possible continuation. If state funds continue, local cost would be about 540 yearly, with state covering most expenses and a 14 hourly dentist fee.
Seoul March 12 American Sabre Jet pilots shot down four more Red jets today bringing the three day total to 16 destroyed. Eleven Mig-15s were damaged in the same period as U S Fifth Air Force reports losses, if any, are minimal. An quick seven minute fight near Northwest ores saw 20 Sabres engage 17 Reds with Reds not replying in the afternoon. Air battles overshadow ground actions for a third day as Eighth Army notes infantry action was limited to minor clashes along the eastern front.
A Erie civic delegation was assured of state financial support to prevent lint bronson in the harbor. Samuel Lewis, secretary of forests and wilers, said $8,291,000 of state money is available for the project. He added there is no reason to delay protecting the harbor.

Greensburg Pa March 12 bidens of Greensburg First United Presbyterian Church asked for the resignation of their minister Rev William Cooke. Cooke blamed an internal matter in the church saying he was told one did too much outside work. He said his work in fighting rackets did not relate to the elders request. He participated in Operation Crusade a drive by Protestant ministers on Westmoreland County rackets.

In Manchester New Hampshire Kefauver and Eisenhower celebrated strong showings in the state’s presidential primary. Eisenhower led the Republican preferential vote with about 46,000 ballots to Taft’s 85,000, while Kefauver spoke of being elated by the results and planned to enter more primaries.
