John Colter Dies at 101 in Northeastern Pennsylvania
John Colter, a nonagenarian veteran known as Asidle John, died at age 101 in Woodrock township Crawford county while visiting his grandson Alford. A Civil War veteran who joined the 160th Pennsylvania Volunteers, he lived a long life in the county, remembered for early frontier scenes and a vivid memory. He is survived by a daughter Mrs. Wilcox and two grandsons, with services at Woodcorkboro Church at 11 o'clock Saturday. Five generations are represented in his family.
