Jury awards $32,000 in Meadville fatal crash case

League Is Not Guilty Under New York Law
Attorney General Nathaniel J. Goldstein said the Dairymen's League Cooperative Association butter price manipulation last December was an restraint of trade but not covered by present state law. The U S District Court fined the league $25 000 and President Henry Rathbun plus three officers $1 000 each. He argued the Federal Commodities Exchange Act has no state law limits, so the league pleaded guilty to the federal violation.
