A woman died in a blaze that swept through four homes in a southwest Virginia lumber camp near Bland. The victim was identified as 95 Trivia R Weber. Her husband William Weber and their teenage son escaped unharmed. earlier reports had listed them missing. No injuries were reported among residents of the other destroyed homes in the Bastian area. Cause of the fire was not immediately known. about 25 families lived in the camp.
In Harrisburg GOP and Democratic lawmakers attacked Gay Lawrence's plan to extend a 34 percent sales tax. East Main street resident William Kerstetter, 21, was admitted to Corry Memorial Hospital after a head-on crash with a telephone pole. His 1954 sedan sustained about 500 dollars in damage. Police in Massapequa Long Island say four men wired with disguises and a tear gas bomb robbed a local bank of 72 000 dollars. Thames Parks 27 a Bay Shore plumber Anatole Rylsky 41 a West Babylon tavern owner Richard Hatch 59 a Lindenhurst blueprint developer and William McHenry 51 an insurance salesman were charged with assault and armed robbery. Money recovered. one suspect arrested on handcuff rumor. Scene details place them at Rylsky home where others were detained.
