Cody Hospital Faces Inevitable Closure in Financial Struggle
Twenty years ago Cody Hospital remained mired in a severe financial quagmire with no egress evident, as directors of the association voted last night to keep it running as long as possible. The hospital’s operation lagged behind expenses, and an ultimate closing seemed likely despite efforts to sustain it. Blizzard conditions then hit Corry, bringing one of the winter’s stormiest days with heavy snow and cold winds throughout the morning. In retail activity, J A Lanston began redecorating the W T Grant Company store on North Center Street as work commenced. A protest circulates against the planned closing of the Barding School as part of a retrenchment program, with property owners in the First Ward opposing the move. Albert Young Jr., celebrated his eighth birthday at home on East Bond Street with 18 guests.
