Mleczko Jury Fails to Reach Verdict in Murder Trial
A State Supreme Court jury in Rochester failed to agree on first degree murder charges against Leo J. Mleczko, 31, of Dunkirk after 33 hours of deliberation. Jurors reportedly split nine to three for acquittal, prompting remand to Monroe County jail and a plan by the district attorney to seek a new trial. The defendant had previously been convicted in a 1946 rape slaying and later reversed on appeal.
