Washington March 7 Paul H Henderson vice president of United Aircraft and Transport Co testified before the Senate air mail committee that he paid Lebr Fess son of Senator Simeon D Fess a fee of 8000 to 9000 dollars for two days work in 1980 to expedite passage of the McNary-Watres air mail act. Henderson said the act needed passage by a certain day in April 1990 for NATs route certificate on its mail contract. He noted Fess was in Washington two days and the act passed around that time. City considers $10000 tax collector bond and related surety idea

Oil City triple tragedy shocks town in 1920s notice
In Oil City Pennsylvania March 7 a 53 year old machinist Anderson, in a murderous act, burned and killed his wife Mildred 19 and son Paul 14 with a hunting knife before shooting himself in the heart. Witnesses report a loud radio as the events unfolded. Harv, 22, the remaining son, found the scene on returning home from work. The family is from the same apartment building as Ralph Dunn who heard the radio at full blast. Two sons then departed to Pittsburgh for burial arrangements.

Plan Complete Replacement of CCC Personnel
Washington March 7 Almost complete replacement of Civilian Conservation Corps personnel is planned this year under a new enlistment policy aimed at 250 000 new enrollees. OCC Director Robert Fechner said no current 303 525 unemployed youths and veterans in forest camps would stay beyond 12 to 16 months after enlistment. All corps members will be discharged April 1, with those wishing to reenlist for varying periods. Fechner projected 100 000 men leaving this month to seek other work and 250 000 new recruits to be admitted at April 2, July 2 and October 1 enlistment dates, without expanding beyond the present strength of 50342m.
