Tragedy at Iowa Schoolhouse Ends in Double Death
A 13 year old boy shot Miss Anna Skerm after a rejected suitor forced her from a schoolhouse. He then killed himself, leaving frightened children and neighboring farmers to tend the wounded teacher in the snow.

Clarion Forger Sentenced to Western Penitentiary
Charlon G. Greenawalt, a Clarion county native, was jailed by local police at Sligo and sent to Western Penitentiary after pleading guilty to forgery. He faced one count with a term not less than 15 months nor more than five years and a $50 fine for passing checks for $56 at a bank in Rimersburg and $76 at a Clarion bank. He fled to Ol City to visit kin before capture.
