A morning explosion wrecked the St Thomas heating plant causing significant damage to a large steam boiler. Officials suspect tampering during the night and an investigation may follow. The church property heating system is out of commission and repairs will take several days.
The Patrons of Husbandry held a lively Saturday meeting at their hall with about forty members present for the first and second degrees. A literary program entertained attendees and an invitation was extended to attend the County Pomona Grange gathering in Belle Valley on March 14 and 15 to discuss existence and competition among men.
Report states Chief Davin will present three youths charged with cantatore thefts for juvenile court in Hiro. Additional boys known for similar raids may be detained. Court may commit them to a short term detention home while investigations continue.
Washington reports that Newton U Baker former Mayor of Cleveland is likely to be appointed War Secretary by President Wilson within days.
