Harrisburg March 5 The governor George H Earle will confer with presidents of state teachers colleges and district representatives at 11 tomorrow to push restoring appropriations for the 1931 83 biennium House members from ten districts with teachers colleges formed the Teachers College Legislative League to lead the fight against reduced appropriations. Rep Harry F Trout was elected president and Rep John A Smith secretary. The group adopted a resolution opposing any closing of the colleges and named a committee to determine minimum needs of 14 schools. Governor George H. Earle denounces opponents of a 22 point revenue program aimed at funding a 208 million two year plan. In Rome, Italy seeks a neutral zone with Abyssinia after a dispute over Ethiopian rail access ends with a coordinated halt to further hostilities. The deal establishes a six kilometer neutral zone along the frontier and signals broader settlements on remaining issues.

In Washington on May 5 physicians declared Oliver Wendell Holmes beyond recovery. The aged Supreme Court veteran was reported gradually sinking toward death, with Dr. Thomas Claylor saying there was no hope for recovery. Despite treatment and care, Holmes remained partially conscious but near coma, with no chance of awakening from the coma.
An Allied report from Anhs May 5 states government troops under General George Condy lis crossed the Struma into Melovonia to crush the rebel army led by General Camenos. Rebels at Cavalla and Souda Bay appeal for mediation and naval aid as government forces, five bombing planes, and warships circle to strike. Condy lis warns the rebels to surrender by noon or face a renewed assault.
An important Democratic objective of Governor Harle’s administration is the approval of a revised workmen's compensation bill. Sponsored by Rep. Samuel A. Weiss of Allegheny, the bill would update the 1915 act to raise Pennsylvania workers' benefits to be comparable with those in other states. Drafted under the governor's social legislation committee, which includes Lt. Gov. Kennedy and five cabinet members, the measure aims to modernize industrial compensation.

The course follows a previous training course in first aid at Erle.
