John Dunbar died suddenly last evening at 11 45 at his home after a period of poor health. He had directed the Corry Water Supply pump station for twelve years and was a member of the United Brethren Church. His wife Mrs. H. Merew of New City Vinnelauil survives. He was born in Sugar Grove a year ago and spent most of his life here. Funeral will be Friday at 4 p.m. at his home with burial in the Grave Cemetery.
Meadville Elks prepare for a large gathering at the Elks Club tomorrow with a timing meeting, candidate initiation planned, followed by luncheon and an after program with guest attendees expected to join locals for the event.
Thelma Bates of Columbus and Frank Vander Kooi of Olivier wed in Jamestown on February 24. The bride wore cream wool attire and brides roses, ring ceremony followed by dinner with her family at Woodlawn. A reception at the groom’s home in Olivier featured many gifts as friends offered best wishes. The bride, a high school graduate, recently left Beaton for a stenographer job at Fore River Ship Co. The groom is a respected resident of Lyn.
