Pfc Vaughn D. Miller of Erie along with a companion drifted into Cuban territorial waters during an off duty boat outing from Guantanamo. Cuban authorities handed them to Swiss officials and they were later moved to a Marine reserve unit in Miami before heading to Camp Lejeune for official debriefing.

Driver Draws £2,000 Fine for 1964 Monroe County Blast
AP reports a $2,000 fine imposed on Albert J. Koda, 53, driver of an explosives laden truck that exploded in Monroe County in June 1964, killing six. Judge Michael H. Sheridan also fined American Cyanamid company owner N. J. The driver had pleaded innocent to an Interstate Commerce Commission charge, then changed to a no contest plea.
