NEWARK, March 4 One woman died and 16 families were made homeless when a four story brick tenement house burned in a four alarm fire the second in three hours. The unidentified victim was found on a third floor living room floor likely after falling while trying to reach the hallway.

They were arrested on South Center street and held in city jail overnight. Damaged meters showed a 3 pin holding the handle sheared off.
Washington March 4 A sudden agreement giving John L Lewis miners sweeping gains today heralded an end to the coal strike. About 472,000 miners, hard hit after a month of illness, likely will return to work Monday as the settlement details are drafted. The agreement cut through a stalemate with a joint committee drafting terms, and White House involvement signaled a swift peace in a industry plagued by labor strife and tough competition from other fuels.
