The state had alleged Aaron Holl was the mastermind, while Holl was cleared as an accomplice and the murder was linked to Robbery of $4000. The woman was found murdered in her home on December 19. Dr Bernard health officer for Warren county investigated a diphtheria case in the family at 3 Dewell on Piccadilly. Quarantine was ordered.
London reports renewed heavy bombardment along the Verdun front as German forces push a renewed attack. Advices from Stockholm say von Manstein has reached the Western Front with Kaiser and Crown Prince directing the assault on France. The night bombardment targets positions near Popper Weights as shelling intensifies.
Ernest Nimmo died last night at Corry Hospital from injuries suffered early Tuesday when found mangled on the Perinaylo Nin allroad tracks three miles west of Corfy. He sustained a fractured skull and mangled limb. remains were prepared for burial with funeral arrangements to be announced later.
Corry Lodge Elks held its annual officer election last evening. G I Heath was chosen Exalted Ruler succeeding Gharina P Keating. Others elected include Loading Knight yun Rickerson Loyal Eniest William Myers Gecur ing Knight Robert King Treasurer Hi Andrews Secretary F P Davis Trustee N D Darling Tyler A S Keating Colognie to Grand Lodge Charles F Keating and W W Morganridge. Grand Lodge meeting will be in Baltimore with at least four Corry Lodge members expected to attend.
United Press reports a fatal wreck occurred near town when a trolley train collided with a long freight train on the main line. Three men were killed and a fourth injured while awaiting aid after the crash.
Four inmates escaped from the Mercer County jail by breaking through an eighteen inch wall overnight. The escaped are Rows Road, John Warsank, High Shiter, and John Emiro, all but Reed sent from Farrell Pennsylvania. Local searches have been continuing with efforts to locate the men.
United Press report from Longton dated March 20 states Douaumont village four miles from Verdun fell today to German troops sweeping southwest. German forces drive toward Verdun city as Teutons assault in an effort to break through and reach troops still holding lines near the Papper Heights.
Dispatches carried by Morp ing ympers claim Diaz is moving rapidly from Damen toward Mexico City as reports reach Washington. Government sources say the information is not yet confirmed and details remain uncertain.
The Penn and Cornell basketball teams meet Monday night in Ithaca to decide the inter scholastic series. A Cornell win would keep their title hopes alive while Penn aims to upset and control the championship race.
City officials announce plans for a new regimental band of the Sixteenth Regiment. Each of twelve companies will enlist two musicians, expanding the unit to about fifty-two pieces to accompany the guard during encampments each year. The effort aims to create the finest musical organization in the area.
Mrs. Th. Livermary hosted the final of three benefit gatherings on Wright Street to aid the Relief Society Civic Improvement League and Hospital funds. About 175 townspeople attended from three to five in the afternoon, enjoying games, needlework, and refreshments while treasury gains totaled 14.25 for the Civic Improvement League and 18.25 for the Hospital Auxiliary.
A store and news stand on Gootle Center Street was broken into by unknown parties. They took about twenty dollars, cash, and candy from the stock. Police were notified and will pursue suspects.
