Erie County Road Work Plan Outlined for the Year

Searching Today For Schoenwald

A large search covers the area near the city for missing man Fred Schoenwald. Oscar Tarnson recalls Schoenwald walking north along the Buffalo division tracks Monday about 1 pm. Police broadcast a description: 60, five foot four, stout, long dark overcoat blue hat, blue shirt, blue serge coat and trousers. A prominent identifying mark is an old right hand thumb injury.

Corry Boy May Work With Pirates

Corry’s Carman Hill, a local pitcher, drew Pirates scouts attention and will try out with the Pittsburgh National League club during spring training. Warren club released Hill for a reported 200 to 300 dollars with a future settlement possible if accepted. Try-out period ends in early May as several big teams show interest in the Corry lad.

Great Fire Destroys Jamestown Warner Block

A morning blaze began in the basement of the New Warner block on South Main Street and quickly spread. The fire caused about 75000 dollars in damage, destroying the four story Warner building and severely damaging the Lundquist block including several businesses such as Famous Clothing Company Brooklyn Square Restaurant Jamestown Shoe Co store and rendering the Lundawlet Hardware Store Triquola Hotel Majestia Moving Plotora Theater effectively ruined. The fire reportedly rose up a shaft at the rear and spread rapidly through the block before containment.
