Clarion Students Named To Dean’s List In Semester Honors

The Epsilon Phi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its annual Ritual of Jewels dinner at Perry's Inn. New pledges Linda Crowell Mary Kobel Sandy Ludwig Marilyn Varrassa Colleen Yahner were honored with yellow roses and sorority pins. Pam Mennen organized the event and also oversaw the ceremony. Corsages were given to each member. The next meeting will be at Pam Mennen's home with dues for charms due and officer elections planned.

Navy Opening Up Seas To Women
Washington AP reports the Navy plans legislation to broaden women’s sea duty beyond hospital ships and transports. The proposal, prompted by a federal suit, would allow women on temporary duty aboard noncombat vessels and permanent duty on noncombat eligible ships, while combat roles remain barred.

A 1963 James Bond film From Russia With Love on ABC outdrew NBCs Neil Diamond music special by about 1 million homes in the Nielsen ratings for the week ending Feb 27. The Diamond show drew over 15.8 million homes, while the Bond film exceeded 16.0 million. ABCs Happy Days led with over 26 million, Laverne and Shirley followed close to 28.6 million, CBS Hunter was lowest at 7.8 million.
