Dr Benjamin Spock seeks dismissal of a federal indictment accusing him and others of conspiring to counsel youths to avoid the draft. He filed a constitutional challenge to US draft laws in U S District Court. Spock, Coffin, and three others were indicted Jan 5 and pleaded innocent.
Clarion Pa a 4 year old man was convicted of voluntary manslaughter for killing a man who was drinking with his wife at a VEW club. Harold Eugene Hackett of Sligo shook hands with the jurors and thanked them after a seven hour deliberation.
The Corry Area Council of Churches held the World Day of Prayer at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at 7 45 PM with theme Bear One Another s Burdens Mrs Lynn Campbell presided and Rev Leonard Adams spoke The program featured representatives from Lutheran Assembly of God Corry EUB First Presbyterian First Methodist and Wayne Valley EUB churches and included local ushers and planning chair Rev Ivan Hunsberger announcing church woman units project offerings.

Edith Chapman 77 of Bear Lake died at Corry Memorial Hospital after birth in Tidioute with funeral arrangements at Spitzer Funeral Home in Clymer. survivors include husband Rush, son Earl Wheeler, sister Mina Conroe, brother Roy Atkin, seven stepchildren, and three steps. Also noted is Israel's plan to spend about 1 million dollars on Jerusalem air raid shelters with running water and amenities.
