Convicted robber faces murder charge in guard slaying
New Brunswick N J March a 35 year old convict robber faces a murder charge for the fatal knife slaying of a prison guard during an attempted escape. George Zagorski of Jersey City slipped from custody and stabbed Guard Victor Viteritto 20 of Trenton in the attack aboard a returning transport. Guard Lester Throckmorton 44 of Allentown was wounded but survived. Zagorski was wounded and captured nearby. The incident occurred as authorities pursued the escape from state prison in Sarita? during a dramatic escape bid. The sole lab devoted to lignite research is operated by the U S Bureau of Mines in Grand Forks SD.
