Pennsylvania Railroad Reports 1945 Results and Postwar Outlook
The Pennsylvania Railroad presents 1945 results with net income $19,008,248, down from 1944, due to higher costs and wartime shutdowns. It notes elevated operating revenues earlier in the war, ongoing capital needs for rehabilitation, and plans for postwar expansion financed privately. The report calls for equitable treatment of railroads, outlines tax impacts, debt reduction, and bond refinancing while detailing fleet upgrades and research efforts. M. W. Clement, president, signs the document.
