Youths in Union City Car Crash Leave One Dead

Three Union City youths were injured when a Buick coach driven by Charles Conway crashed on Bentley Hill near the Union City hatchery. Conway survived with head injuries, while Merle Brakeman and Gerald King were jailed awaiting charges.

Sharper draws workhouse sentence in Crayford bounty case

George Hunt arrested weeks ago in this city on a charge of forgery connected with Meneville operations. He was sentenced to up to one year in the Allegheny County workhouse by Judge Thomas J. Prather. Hunt must pay 35 and costs. Other sentences by Prather included W. J. Kern of Titusville for forgery six months in Crawford County jail J A Johnson Spartans fury constable found guilty of simple assault and battery 10 dollars and costs. Scouts reorganize with new committees in city

Miflmromy, chairman of the Gor ity District Committee of the Rte County Scout Council, appoints committees to aid the reorganization. School Courses Face Conference Over Curriculum

Dr J A Pobert of the State Department of Education visits the city for conferences with Superintendent B S Dewey and Principal Sheen at the Senior High School and with Principal Harold Wolfe at the Junior High School. A later meeting will discuss coordination of Junior and Senior High curricula. Minor changes are planned for the coming year including business English and office practices, and rearrangement of mathematics lists.

Tragedy in Hibbing Shack Fire Claims Six Lives

Fire trapped four children and two adults in a Hibbing shack on March 1. The blaze killed seven, including five young children and an elderly grandfather. authorities report only one survivor. Names include Basford, Gasford, Ray, Margaret, Reeba dell among the victims.

Liberal peace mission heads into Nicaragua frontier

A two liberal leaders and a neutral delegate with U S naval officers will probe inland tomorrow to locate General Moncada and seek peace terms. The mission aims to relay President Diaz's 10 year treaty proposal and report on new marine landings at Corinto. US Major Clarke and Lieut Moran likely accompany the force. Local Plant Worker Hurt in Unloading Accident

Hen Cort, an employee of Penney Mond Sianufacturing Company, was injured this morning around 11 o clock while unloading timber at the plant. His left leg was badly bruised and he was confined to Corry Hospital, where he is expected to recover. no bones were broken.

Erie Man Dies From Burns

An Erie man died from burns after a hot plate ignited a chair in his nearby home. He was found severely injured and transported to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The incident is under local investigation to determine the exact sequence of events.

Nurse Escapes Serious Burns in Apartment Fire

Miss Helen Stawell a student nurse at Corry Hospital escaped serious burns when a fire started in the apartment block at West Pleasant Street Austin Home early this morning. The fire caused minor damage. no fire department call was needed. The blaze is believed to have been started by an electric light device at the bed. Stowell awoke to find the bed on fire and extinguished it herself, though her clothing was burned and minor damage occurred.

Philadelphia Magistrate Faces Fraud Charge

Philadelphia March 1 magistrate George E Rowland was expected to be arrested on a warrant charging maltreatment extortion and fraud in an investigation covering months of Rowland disposal of more than 500 liquor cases sent through his court by police. Detectives say many cases were discharged or altered to disorderly conduct and fines paid. He is accused of converting fines and city property and failing to keep proper account books. Warrant issued by Judge Stern with District Attorney Fox. Rowland reportedly traveled to Washington and would arrange bail on return.

Italian Flier Francesca de Pinedo Takes Australian Route Flight

Italian aviator Francesca de Pinedo departed from Santos Brazil en route toward the United States and Canada, planning a southern Atlantic arc before turning back to Italy via the North Atlantic. He previously left Gagliari Sardinia in February, crossing Africa and the South Atlantic.

Barn Dance Draws Large Crowd at Armory

Upwards of 291 attendees filled the State Armory for the annual barn dance hosted by the Corry County Knights of Columbus. Ernie's Ball Hops of Titusville supplied the music and program, but the music did not meet full expectations, leaving the large audience mostly disappointed with the entertainment.

Red Arrow Quartet Excites Rotary Club With City Debut

A large Rotary Club gathering at Hotel Worry featured the Red Arrow Quartet of Pennsylvania Rail employees delivering a polished program. Explosion at Welsh colliery buries miners

News reaches London that in the Cwm Ebbw Vale colliery Wales a mine explosion trapped 185 miners. By early afternoon 22 dead were recovered and 71 were rescued leaving 92 still missing as rescue operations continued despite gas and rising dangers. A later report from Nottinghamshire notes a staging collapse at a different pit endangering 17 workers with three saved.

Pan American Flight Resumes After Argentine Crash

United Press reports Pan American Good Will flyers resume their mission from Buenos Aires to Ascuncion Paraguay after two companions died in the crash. Two Held for Slaying Knapp in Washington

Robert Enrich, 41, and his brother Royal were held for grand jury in Washington today for the murder of Louie A. Knapp and Paul Fox. Police say the men were tied to the coal and iron pollutions investigation and had previously lived in the area.
