Chism Bank Account Falls Short of Asset Claim
Erie County lawyers learned that convicted murderer Donald Lee Chism's secret bank account holds $880 rather than about $441,000 believed last week. First National Bank of Pennsylvania informed officials the checking balance stood at $580. Chism had listed nearly $41,000 in his jail checkbook, prompting attachment papers. County costs for the Williamsport murder trial approached $42,000, with the legal department seeking recovery. Chism had claimed no money, leading to an appointed attorney.
