Mrs James Sinare bought Carroll's Beauty Shop at 104 North Center Street from Mr and Mrs Herbert Carroll after more than 30 years of operation. Sinare and her daughter Mrs Frank Campisano will take over gradually with Sinare running the gift shop and Campisano handling the beauty shop. The Carrolls retire, ending 44 years with the firm, and staff will remain with the business.

In Viet Nam a large government force, struck by a Viet Cong regiment, fought toward relative safety near Saigon as air sorties pressed the assault. Seven U S personnel were reported killed when a Viet Cong bomb hit the My Canh restaurant on the Saigon riverfront.

An 18 year old North East girl Evelyn Falzone and 11 year old Westfield boy Ivan Torres died in separate incidents yesterday afternoon. Evelyn Falzone disappeared while wading at Freeport Beach near 16 Mile Creek and was recovered about seven hours later, after entering deep water with her sister and another child. Erie County deputy coroner John Marks identified the victim. the rescue effort involved Crescent Hose Company and local residents. The report notes a prior incident where the younger girl and companions entered shallow water before the accident. investigation continued into the deaths.
