Army Worm Dusting Battle Near Erie Wells Library Area
June 30 Erie county farmer Clifford Hammer used a cist solution to dust Army worms over 100 acres of wheat in the Wells Library valley southwest of Erie. Hammer’s brother Norman and Fred Shyler piloted a Piper Cub to spread the solution as more farmers watched. About 7500 acres of wheat are grown in Erie county.
