The United States and Allied powers sign a world changing treaty. President Wilkin proclaims a fresh start and calls for global unity while warnings of future changes and renewed peace efforts are issued.
Reported today that four well known men were linked to an alleged assault on a young woman near North Gonter. The incident involved forcible entry, intimidation, and threats as the men pursued the victim through a hallway and into her apartment. No arrests were made and police protection for the involved parties was questioned as the investigation continues.
Yesterday afternoon and night the Gorey theatre sparkled with the big motion picture Mickey. Audiences praised the vivid production and the star performance as large crowds filled the venue for the showings.
The city notes the death of Private Jesse W McCray in military service during World War II. His family learns of his passing as details emerge from the War Department. He served with the 6th Regiment and was reported missing then presumed killed in action. He was 18 and survived by his twin sister and other relatives. He enlisted from his hometown and died while serving with Company A in the field.
Woodmen of the World members prepare for a memorial service tomorrow at Woodman Cemetery with a procession from Washington Street. John Kelly of New York suffers injuries after an incident near a freight train in Corry and is taken to the hospital for treatment.
A large quantity of whisky valued around thirty thousand dollars vanished from a truck near Conneaut while en route to Coleto. The driver and guard were detained as authorities launch investigations after barrels labeled Frye’s Whole Sale appeared and irregularities prompted pursuit toward Conneaut.
Sta Captain Halpin of Philadelphia will head the Salvation Army anniversary exercises Sunday afternoon at 5:30. Adjutant Miss Pitty of Philadelphia, on duty with the Army in France, will participate with the boys at the front. City officials and cadets are expected to attend a gathering likely to be well attended by the Salvation Army and local organizations.
Jamestown defeated Corry 7 to 4 with late scoring support. Sailors and infield stars highlighted a tight game as Corry’s offense struggled but showed strength in key innings.
An official program outlines a public service event with band selections led by Adjutant Smith, featuring Deon arrangements and piano pieces by William. Attendees include Mayor Alexander Bolos, Exalted Leader Waller Polke, and Miss Anna May Pope. The events span meetings this evening and church services Sunday morning.
