Detectives Shadowed Witness in Lorimer Probe

Washington June 27 Clarence Funk, Harvester Co official, testified four Chicago detectives followed him to Washington and to the door of the committee room. He said Edward Hines asked for a $10,000 contribution to aid Lorimer’s election expenses. The committee recessed to decide how to handle the detectives’ activity and resumed later.

Held as Horse Thieves Father and Son Arrested

In Groegwich Connecticut the police arrested Charles Cartavelletto and Tony Bon, two young men sought for a string of horse thefts across Port Chester and surrounding towns. Disguised as stablemen, officers nabbed the pair in Norfolk after a morning stakeout. Their father awaited nearby and the trio are to be extradited to New York.

In Pottaville Pennsylvania on June 2 1900 Dr Bingaman of Reading seeks a new trial after conviction for attempting an operation causing the death of nurse Mrs Pimily Albright. He was released on bond set at $5000. Counsel plans to argue the trial occurred in the wrong county and will file for another trial.
