Sarmicki drove in seven runs with a two base homer and helped push seven runs across in the third inning while Frisina, Williams and McKean added key hits as the Merchants Rallyed for seven in the third. The Old Timers had strong defense with Jimmy Staples making a fine play behind the shortstop but were hampered by eight singles and multiple wild pitches.

Cleveland June 26 Coroner Samuel J Gerber pledged a complete investigation into Jimmy Doyle death after he failed to regain consciousness following a knockout by welterweight champion Ray Sugar Robinson in the eighth round of the title fight at the Arena. He said he would question all involved and avoid outside pressure while determining whether Doyle was fit to face Robinson and whether prior brain injuries played a role.
