44 Hour Week For Women In Effect Sept 1
Harrisburg June 1 The state labor department reports many inquiries from employers and workers after Gov George H. Warren signed the 44 hour week law for women set to take effect September 1. Secretary Ralph M Bashore notes the act resembles the prior measure, extending exemptions for hospital nurses, domestic workers, agricultural and charitable workers, and executives earning over 26 dollars weekly, while banning women from dangerous jobs. The act amends the 1913 women's labor law and grants enforcement discretion to the department.
