GE Takes Appeal From Assessment
GE, seeking to overturn a 2.6 million dollar assessment increase, filed a petition in common pleas court within 24 hours of the deadline. Judge Burton R. Lilub granted permission to appeal after GE claimed the board of assessment appeal and revision dismissed its case without a hearing and the case will be docketed for hearings.

Etta M Hall Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs Etta M Hall wife of the late John Hall died early this morning around 3 oclock at her home 131 Lemon Street. Born August 16 1868 in North Nast she lived in Union City from 1908 and moved to this city in 1945 to live with her daughter. Surviving are two daughters Mrs All Post and Mrs Davis nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 30 PM at Bracken Eating Funeral Home with interment in Evergreen Cemetery Union City.

Erie youth sentenced for 16th crime in long running spree
James Wood of Erie, age 23, pleaded guilty to the 16th offense in a lifelong criminal series and was sentenced to two and one half to five years in the Allegheny County Workhouse. He admitted prior terms at Harborcreek Training School Morgantown Huntingdon Camp Hill and Western Penitentiary with multiple terms at some sites. The court also imposed another two to five year term for thefts including a wrench from a parked car and a driver's card from another vehicle, to run concurrently with the first sentence.
